Overlord Season 4 Plot

You probably know that Overlord is the anime adaptation of the light novel series of the same name. Volume 14, which is the last of the series, was released in March 2020. This could be a hint that fans still have a lot of waiting to do before they can see a new season on the screens.

Season 3 ended at Volume 9, which means there are five volumes left to adapt, with one being a spin-off. It’s almost certain that Overlord season 4 will contain Volumes 10 and 11. If so, it’s reasonable to expect 12 episodes from the fourth season.

But if all four volumes will be adapted, then Overlord season 4 could be 24 episodes. Problems could arise in this case as plenty of content from the light novels might have to be removed again.

Fans agree that the fourth season of Overlord should adapt either 2 volumes or 4 volumes. In fact, most fans believe that the next season will be the last.

Fans Expect Much More from Overlord Season 4

There’s a reason why Overlord is one of the most popular anime series in recent memory. The first season was fantastic, although many fans argue that it has gone downhill.

The second season was great, but many complained about pacing. The storytelling seemed to drag a tad too much. The third season, meanwhile, were criticized heavily due to poor art and CGI.

This time around, fan expectations are through the roof. Nobody wants to see a new season that fails to learn from past mistakes. Hopefully, the makers of the show listen to their fans and invest more money into better art, animation, and CGI.

This proves particularly crucial since in Volume 10, the final fight scene deserves good animation. The same goes for Volume 11. For those who read the light novels, many consider these two volumes their favorite. So it’s interesting whether Madhouse can deliver better animation and CGI to satisfy Overlord fans.

Interestingly, the CGI director of Overlord is Yabuta Shuuhei, who also directed CGI for Attack on Titan and High School of the Dead. Those two shows weren’t highly regarded for CGI, so take from that what you will.

Overlord Season 4 Spoilers

If you can’t wait for Overlord 4, then you can always read the light novels to get up to speed. The end of season 3 was a good buildup for what’s coming next for Ainz after establishing the Sorcerer Kingdom.

The next season will see Ainz at the center of attention once again, as the volumes to be adapted heavily focus on him. There’s no doubt that Ainz will get a lot of screen time, perhaps the most since season 1.

Volumes 10 and 11 also contain a lot of hilarious scenes, so that’s something worth looking forward to as well.
